Stress
We all know living with Fibro can be overwhelming, the unpredictability and loss of control creates a great deal of stress and anxiety.
Stress causes Muscle tension, which leads to an increase in pain and then more stress and anxiety, it’s just a vicious circle.
So, in order to minimise anxiety, we need to decrease our stress levels. Here are some ways that may help you to do that:
PUT YOUR HEALTH FIRST
- It is important to focus on your own needs and what is right for you. Eat right, rest, pace yourself and plan things to suit you.
LEARN TO SAY NO
- Know your limits and stick to them. Don’t feel guilty about saying ‘No’.
AVOID PEOPLE THAT STRESS YOU OUT
- If you can’t remove or avoid these people in your life, then limit the time you spend with them.
EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS
- Keeping things bottled up will only make your anxiety and Fibro worse. Try to talk to someone or write them down.
GET SOME SUPPORT
- Spend quality time with those that do support you or join Online Support Groups where everyone “Gets It”
DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY EVERY DAY
- Adapting and finding new ways to enjoy the life you now have is essential to your happiness and wellbeing.
ACCEPT WHAT YOU CAN’T CONTROL
- Many things in life are beyond our control. For your own wellbeing don’t try to control what you can’t.
